QUESTIONS:
Q1. How do surfing and fishing together shape you physically and spiritually?
The sea has shaped my life and rhythms. Surfing gives me that physical rush — paddling out, reading waves and the pure joy of riding them — and teaches resilience when you get knocked down. Fishing brings the opposite energy: patience, precision and quiet reflection while waiting for a bite. Together they balance adrenaline and calm, deepen my gratitude for nature, and offer constant learning. Both also build community —swapping yarns about breaks or bonding over a good catch — so the ocean is both a personal refuge and a place for shared memories.
Q2. How did you get into the industry and what have you learned as an ambassador?
I came in through Victoria’s WIRFAB program and took a leadership role in 2019, running events and workshops that helped me build relationships across the fishing community. From that I learned the value of mentorship, local knowledge, and advocacy for sustainability. Being an ambassador means understanding and teaching regulations, promoting best-practice angling, and collaborating with brands that share those values.
Being a pro angler, I work and collaborate with brands that support my cause like Black Magic Tackle. They engage with my communities and sponsors events and tournaments. This involvement helps promote responsible angling through conservation. As a brand they share my love of the sport and responsible angling and the values of modern anglers. That is why I am on their pro angling team for further promote their products and educate the angling community to environmentally friendly practices.

Q3. What advice do you have for young women who want to become pro anglers?
Stay humble! Enjoy your passion and connect with like-minded people. Network with people in the fishing industry locally and ask as many questions as you can to gain wisdom. Take that wisdom and add it to your own angling experiences and most importantly have fun!
Q4. From a conservation standpoint, what would you like to see change for the better on your home waters around Victoria?
The Victoria fisheries do an amazing job at restocking fish and education people about the local waterways and the species that live in them. I would like to see more people fishing sustainably and looking after their catch with the right techniques for catch and release. Also upgrading facilities around boat ramps for cleaning boats and community access. For the greater good of all fisheries, I would encourage fishing brands to focus on the production of recyclable products and reusable or biodegradable packaging.
Q5. What are your fishing plans and milestones for the next few seasons?
I will have a new custom Haines Hunter 620 patriot ready for the summer season. I will be set up with a Helm Master Yamaha 250 V6 Engine and decked out to be a fishing weapon!
With the size of the vessel - I can get further offshore to target pelagic gamefish and stay overnight around Islands near home in Victoria. From a travel perspective - angling adventures around both Australia and New Zealand are at the top of my wish list. So many target species for one lifetime!
