Running Rigs

The humble running rig is ideal for fishing in high current areas, like channels and harbours. They work well in any depth of water and can be used for targeting bottom dwelling species like snapper, gurnard, bream and whiting.

The sinker keeps your bait near the bottom but allows the bait to move freely. This natural presentation will entice the local fish and allows them to take your bait without feeling any resistance from the sinker.

Running rigs can be set up with either recurve or suicide hooks, but always choose your leader weight and hook size based on the species you’re targeting.
